Patrick Berry picked up his 3,000th career driving victory in the eighth race at Freehold Raceway on Saturday, November 9.
The Illinois native, now based in Jamesburg, New Jersey, guided Rocknroll Jewel to a three-quarter-length victory in 1:56.1 for trainer Frank Scamporino Jr.
The 37-year-old Berry reached his milestone with his 66th win of the year. Since 1994, he has driven the winners of more than $27.5 million.
Berry followed his grandfather, Clarence Jacobs, and his uncle, Randy Jacobs, into a career in harness racing. His father, Dan, runs a construction company and races horses as a hobby. Berry headed to the racetrack as soon as he graduated high school and posted his first win in 1995.
