Weird Albert Wins Xtreme Sprint; 5 For Zeron

Driver Scott Zeron enjoyed a five-win night at Flamboro Downs on Sunday, with one of his trips to victory lane earned by Weird Albert in the Xtreme Sprint

Series.

Weird Albert, who was parked to the quarter pole in :27.2 by Major Wager (Anthony MacDonald) eventually got up to win the half-mile event by a half-length margin over that rival in :57 seconds. Race favourite Plane Rammie was third.

The nine-year-old son of Albert Albert is owned by Gordon McDonald and Christopher Boland of Ottawa, ON. The victory was the 28th lifetime tally for the gelding, who has banked in excess of $262,000 to date.

Zeron also clicked with Dashing Earl (1:59.3), Clear For Flight (1:57.1), Lucky Gift (1:55.4) and Chance Is A Lady (2:03). The five-win performance bumped this year’s win total to 503 for the Oakville, ON reinsman.

The Xtreme Sprint is open to pacers, four years old and upwards that have started in an $8,000 or less claiming event at a racetrack in Ontario after August 31, 2010.

The top nine point earners from the Xtreme Sprint legs will advance to the $20,000 championship, a one-lap, five-eighths-of-one-mile dash, at Georgian Downs on November 16.
