With Mohawk and numerous track within an hour or so from there I feel there is a real need for a track east of Toronto as the nearest track is Kawartha Downs. There are many horses racing around all the Mohawk and Smaller tracks trucking in from East of Toronto and its a pretty good distance to travel to race your horse for a decent purse. Kawartha Downs is sure not a money pit and has to scratch for every dollar to try to attract horses and people. My feelings are that Woodbine Sports and Entertainment should be helping these smaller tracks because without them WEG would have a hard time attracting horse to race especially in Winter when Small tracks like KD are closed. Most of the Slot money is now cut off to B tracks so their purses have really suffered the last few years. Surely WEG and the Ontario Government can work together to help the little tracks who are the starting grounds for many horses and put food on the table for people involved in racing. Kawartha Downs is a great racetrack and would be a real kick in the behind to the people involved in racing East of Toronto as only other track in East is Rideau Carleton in Ottawa.
