Testing Crisis Coming To New York?

Published: November 23, 2009 12:16 pm EST

According to a report, there is a shortfall in funding for the testing of racehorses in the state of New York. Unless something changes, testing could stop

at some point early in 2010.

The Saratogian has reported that Cornell University, which has performed equine testing for almost 40 years, has put the state on notice that it plans to stop testing early next year.

The article states that due to the implementation of stricter testing rules, Cornell has seen its testing numbers rise from 60,000 to 100,000 in the last ten years, yet funding has not been keeping pace.

Fees to aid the process, said to be several hundred dollars, are reported to be in an escrow account at the current time.

Well you guys are complaining that by 2010 they might have a hard time checking for inappropriate drugs, well just think of this, I am in Michigan and there might not be anything to check for and for that matter looking at all the penalties at the U.S.T.A.web site, I don't ever remember any horseman set down for illegal drugs in MI,and our GOVERNOR from hell wouldn't care anyway.
