This week's Rewind is another version of "Picture Parade," a regular monthly feature where readers get to look at some old photos and, if they wish, submit who they think is pictured. This time around there is no central theme — the grouping of pictures is what I call "From The Scrapbook." They are of various subjects and cover quite a wide range of time periods.

#1 – Can you identify this quintette of drivers from quite a number of years ago?

#2 – This happy fellow has a new set of wheels. Looks like whitewalls were in style back 40 years or so ago. Who is this man?

#3 – How many people can you identify from this winner’s circle photo from way back in 1964?

#4 – Turn your clock back 45 years or so and see if you can come up with this fellow’s name. And while you’re at it, you might as well tell us who the horse is.

#5 – This gentleman was part of the racing scene for a very long time. He started out driving the family horses and eventually held many managerial positions in the racing world. Who is he?

#6 – Can you name these two people as they mark a special milestone victory?

#7 – At one time Roosevelt Raceway held “Meet The Stars,” a feature that allowed fans to ask questions of their favourite drivers. Can you identify the driver (wearing a helmet) shown above? See the line of people awaiting their turn.

#8 – This Canadian-born driver had quite a career, much of it spent Stateside. He is shown here with one of the better ones he handled. This horse won over two and a half million dollars in his racing career. Name the driver and the horse if you can.

#9 – Can you identify the winning driver in the above photo from 1966 taken in London? I do not have the identities for the other people in the picture. If anyone sees someone they recognize, let us know who they might be.

#10 – This fellow was a standout on the very tough Montreal circuit (Blue Bonnets and Richelieu Parc) for many years. Can you put a correct name on him?
Quote for the Week: “Before I got married I had six theories about bringing up children; now I have six children and no theories.”
— John Wilmot, famous English poet
(The correct answers will be posted here by Robert as a comment in a few days.)
Blast From The Past

Above is a scene from a race day at Maniwaki, Quebec in 1954, one of the many small-town tracks that featured harness racing in the province. I just learned that Foire means Fair in English!
This week's picture answers
This week's pictures were all solved by our panel of experts. The correct answers to the picture parade photos were as follows:
#1 - L-R - Carl Jamieson, Fred Grant, Ron Waples Sr., Joe Gougen and Clark Smith
#2 - Carman Hie and maybe getting ready to drive his "Chevy to the Levee"
#3 - Driver was Wes Coke, trainer and father Cecil Coke standing behind, horse was Chief Saint with Rick Moffatt holding. Owner was Paul Fraleigh of London (perhaps the folks on the left ?)
#4 - Outstanding trotter Bridger and driver Dave Green. I recall having a nice large poster with this duo that may have been distributed at the LCBO. I think it got lost or left during a move.
#5 - Ed Bradley longtime announcer (at Dufferin), racing director and other roles with Ont. Jockey Club many years.
#6 - Tom Gorman of Stampede Park presenting an award to John Baxter marking his 1000th career driving win on June 4, 1980
#7 - Bobbe Huntress, famous female driver at Roosevelt (Thanks Garth)
#8 - Ray Remmen and Beach Towel
#9 - Driver is Don Corbett. Winning horse was David Baron owned by Gary Mines of London (likely with his family?)
#10 - Duncan MacTavish and the horse was Oliver Twist
Thanks so much. That is a lot of names, and I believe you got them all!
