Mike Hennessy is on track to match the 2023 driving totals he posted in a career season last year. He reached new heights this year as part of a four-win performance on Saturday, Nov. 16 at Century Mile, surpassing $10 million in career earnings.
In the midst of his second million-dollar season, Hennessy reached the $10 million mark with his victory in Saturday's fourth race, guiding favoured Trust Me Alot ($2.20) to victory for trainer Travis Ellis and Manitoba-based owners Aurel Vodon and Trevor Williams.
Not content to stop there, Hennessy returned to the winner's circle with fifth race winner Agricola (1:56.4; $5.40), and seventh race favourite Blue Star Mercury (1:55.1; $5.10) before closing out the night with a 20-1 upset courtesy Wine Thirty (1:53.2; $42.40).
A resident of Lacombe, Alta. and perennially one of the top drivers at all three Alberta racetracks, Mike Hennessy sports 1,387 wins and $10,011,924 in earnings since starting his driving career in 2003. With 11 cards remaining this year at Century Mile, Hennessy's 2024 numbers — 142 wins and $1,114,570 in purses — could come close to the career-high 152 wins and $1,184,463 in earnings posted in 2023.
