Trot Insider has learned that trotting stallion Kadabra has been momentarily sidelined from stallion duty as a result of a recent injury.

Tara Hills Stud has reported that, on Nov. 3, Kadabra sustained an injury to his right hock which has put his stallion career in jeopardy. The injury was in the same location as the original suspensory injury that forced Kadabra to retire from racing in 2003. On veterinary advice, the 21-year-old stallion has been placed on stall rest for at least two months.

"We are hoping to provide breeders with an update on his condition in early January," said David Heffering of Tara Hills Stud. "In the meantime, we ask that you suspend any sales of breedings or shares."

Kadabra has cemented himself as one of trotting's most prolific stallions, having sired more than 1,200 horses, 270 have which boast six-figure earnings and eight of which have earned over $1 million. All told, his progeny have earned more than $100 million with standouts including 2013 Horse of the Year Bee A Magician, 2019 Hambletonian winner Forbidden Trade and world champion Emoticon Hanover.
