Is Woodbine Entertainment Group planning a move into the Quebec marketplace? WEG's President Nick Eaves was recently asked about the possibility of the racetrack operator making a move east.

The Montreal Gazette's Paul Delean recently questioned whether or not WEG might be interested in the province's simulcast market (article here).

"Absolutely not," Eaves told Trot Insider on Wednesday. "It's terrible what Quebec is going through, but we have our own problems that we have to deal with here."

The future of the sport in Quebec was dealt another blow on Wednesday when Attractions Hippiques officially announced it was stopping pari-mutuel activities at its Hippo Clubs and at the Hippodrome de Montréal, the Hippodrome de Trois-Rivières and all horseracing activities at the Quebec City racetrack and the video lottery terminals (VLTs) on its premises (article here).
