It was reported last week that the recently-retired standardbred mare IXL had been found running down a public highway in the Maritimes with other livestock. Now, according to an update by CBC.ca, the Merrilywerollalong bay has now found herself a good home
.
An article last week by The Daily Gleaner broke the story that IXL had changed hands at least one other time since being sold this past summer. The horse reportedly ended up near Perth-Andover -- in northwestern New Brunswick, about 175 kilometres from Fredericton -- running on a public highway with three other horses and a calf. The New Brunswick SPCA was called in at the beginning of September and the animals seized.
According to the CBC.ca story, horse owner Angela Carberry took IXL in from the New Brunswick SPCA after hearing of the situation.
"We all have things to be thankful for at this time of year and I'm guessing that she's probably doing OK right now," Carberry said.
"I don't know exactly how horses feel thanks but she probably is."
