According to a report, officials at Northlands, home to Northlands Park, are examining the possibility of a new hockey arena being built on the grounds for the NHL's

Edmonton Oilers.

An article by the Edmonton Journal cites a source -- described as 'close to the arena process' -- as saying that steps are being taken to develop the plan, including drawings.

"A lot of people are wanting to make sure that Northlands gets into the mix here," the source is quoted as saying.

The article also states that Northlands is downplaying the issue publicly.

I heard this last year from a source who saw the drawings they have proposed to build it right where the track is.But I believe it is a longshot at best. But it makes us realize what they really think of racing. A very unfortunate state that is for sure.
