Mason Greer, an up-and-coming rising star in the Canadian music scene, will sing the Canadian and American national anthems at the 2016 O’Brien Awards.

Greer, who is 14 years old, is a very accomplished Mississauga-based singer who has performed on many stages, including centre ice at the Air Canada Centre as an unofficial mascot and anthem singer for the Toronto Maple Leafs. Mason was first discovered at an open call alongside 500 other -- mostly adult -- singers. He landed the gig and debuted with the Leafs on March 19, 2015. He is thought to be one of the youngest anthem singers in Toronto Maple Leafs history. Since then, he has amazed fans on five different occasions while performing the national anthem before the Leafs’ opening face-off.

Mason has performed the anthem on several professional sporting stages including the Toronto Blue Jays, the Toronto Marlies and opening for the 2016 World Cup of Hockey – Future Goals Showcase this past September. Harness racing will be the next sport that he checks off his list.

After the biggest stage in Canadian sports opened the doors for Mason, an even bigger opportunity came his way. Michael Hanson, the former Glass Tiger drummer and five-time Juno award winner teamed up with Greer and the two of them have been recording original pop songs together ever since.

Just released this past November is Mason’s newest single “Vows”, a high-gloss love song that can be purchased on iTunes.

Mason has also performed in the Hamilton Music Awards Rising Star competition, CNE’s Rising Star talent competition, the Westdale High School Production of Les Miserables, Theatre Ancaster’s Aida, Opera Hamilton’s Falstaff, Theatre Aquarius’ Sound of Music, and Theatre Aquarius’ Cabaret.
