Driver Don McElroy sent Dangerous Years to the front from Post 7 on Monday afternoon at Western Fair Raceway and she never looked back to score in the $15,200 Fillies and Mares Preferred Pace.
Last week at London’s half-mile oval, McElroy used the same tactics from the same starting position, as the six-year-old Western Hanover mare searched for her fifth consecutive victory. The only problem was Dangerous Years got nipped at the wire by Gobro Gramma G in 1:57.2.
Today, Dangerous Years led after a first panel in :28.3 and put on the breaks coming to the intermission, which she reached in :59.1, as Trace Of Luck (Mike Horner) started the outside flow. The Wayne Preszactor trainee unleashed a :28.3 third quarter and that turned out to be the knockout punch, as she hung tough to post a three-quarter length score in 1:58.2.
Lady Mach (Mike Sumner) disappointed as the favourite and finished second. Call Me Yours (Ross Battin) was third.
Dangerous Years, now 2-1-0 in three 2009 starts, is owned by Bulletproof Enterprises. It was the 16th win of her career and pushed her lifetime bankroll to $197,571.
Tipper Too doubled up when he went gate-to-wire for trainer/driver Corey Giles in the $12,800 Preferred-2 Pace. Starting from Post 4, Giles sent the six-year-old Albert Albert stud down the road through splits of :27.2, :58.3 and 1:27.3 en route to an open length victory in 1:56.4.
Tymal Cameron (Mike Sumner) was given a two-hole trip but was unable to capitalize and settled for second. Lifes Rocky A (Mike Whelan) was over five lengths back in third.
Giles also owns Tipper Too, who is perfect in a pair of starts this season. Lifetime, the pacer has 16 lifetime wins and earnings just shy of $170,000.

Mentioning Dangerous Years,
Mentioning Dangerous Years, did anyone else notice that of the twenty starts from her and her stablemates this year, there have been 11 winners(2 - 2nds, 3 - 3rds, 2 - 4ths, 1 - 5th and only one out of the money (6th)). In fact, of the first eight starters from the stable this year, seven were winners. Pretty amazing.
