The Raceway at Western Fair District closed out 2013's harness racing season with the $6,300 Auld Lang Syne Pace.
As the betting public predicted J M Karisma hit the wire first off a patient second-over trip for driver Trevor Henry, winning in 2:00.1. The 10-year-old Intrepid Seelster gelding is owned by trainer Dennis Jewitt of Wingham, Ont.
Henry also won the $6,300 Seniors Trot earlier on the card, guiding eight-year-old Strike A Light to victory lane off a wire-to-wire 2:02.4 trip for trainer-owner Steve Bossence of London, Ont. Henry's four wins on the card solidified his national dash-winning title with 529 wins on the year, tops in Canada for the second straight year.
The feature races on the card were swept by trainer-owner combinations as Insincerity was victorious in the $9,000 Fillies & Mares Preferred 2 Pace in 1:58.1 for driver J.R. Plante and trainer-owner Bill Hamm of West Lorne, Ont.
