Tammy Webb is the I Love Canadian Harness Racing Fan Club’s Heart of Harness Racing Calendar photographer for September.
Last year, Webb captured an image (below) of Kate MacNeill getting Magical Alex ready to race at Exhibition Park in Saint John, New Brunswick.
MacNeill has been helping her Dad around the barns for several years and is now helping jog Alex. “It always makes me happy to see young people enjoying it as much as their parents. My only hope is there will be horse racing for years to come here in New Brunswick,” said Webb.
Growing up, Webb always had a love for horses and horseback riding. It wasn’t until a couple of years ago that her close friend, Brent Briggs, introduced her to the world of harness racing.
“I’ve been hooked ever since!” she says. “He and his family have a long history with the industry and I had the pleasure of working with them and some wonderful horses. I started out with my groom’s license and over the last year have become more involved by jogging and helping with the training of a couple of two-year-olds.”

Webb works for UPS, but she spends her spare time with her retired Standardbred, JFJS Smilin Cowgirl, training her under saddle. Webb is also the track photographer for Exhibition Park Raceway in Saint John, NB, but started out taking photos for the Fredericton Raceway 130 Facebook page just as a hobby. “I still get excited when I get that perfect shot,” she admits.
Some of Tammy’s favourite horses that she’s had the pleasure of working with include Spudland Sierra, Indigo Artist, Western Tales, Nucoz Typhoon, Contact Jones, and JFJS Smilin Cowgirl.
“Photography has always been a passion of mine and being able to photograph such amazing animals in this sport is great.”
