Sunday, September 20 marks the end of Clinton Raceway’s live 2009 harness racing season. The 28th annual Charity Driver’s Challenge will be contested
with Clinton’s top three drivers, Trevor Henry, Bruce Richardson and Doug McNair going head to head with five of Canada’s top drivers, Jody Jamieson, Mark MacDonald, Mike Saftic, Sylvain Filion and Brad Forward.
This year’s challenge will be a fundraiser for Central Huron Secondary School’s Challenge Day, held in November with all drivers donating their fees to the great community cause.
The day-long, interactive Challenge Day program was featured on the Oprah Show in 2006 and provides teens and adults with tools to tear down the walls of separation, and inspires participants to live, study, and work in an encouraging environment of acceptance, love, and respect. Clinton Raceway has committed this Driver’s Challenge, and the next two to fund raise for CHSS’s upcoming challenge days.
Other events for the day will include a car wash, bake sale, 50/50 draw, Chicken BBQ, and a raffle for a flight for two to Hanover for Breakfast.
Clinton Raceway is also cleaning out their fridges, freezers and coolers; everything on the menu is half price!
The $20,000 Ray McLean Memorial Pace will also be featured, and two previously-qualified Trot Canada National Handicapping Championship contestants will win their place at the $25,000 (estimated) championship in Ottawa.
