The two-day harness racing meet at the Western Michigan Fair, in Ludington, Mich., has been abandoned due to unsuitable track conditions and expected inclement weather.
Following a 15-minute delay to the Monday (Aug. 5) card, which was slated to feature Great Lake Stakes events for Michigan-sired two- and three-year-olds, horsepeople and officials conferred and agreed that abandoning the races was in the best interest of all participants' safety. The Tuesday (Aug. 6) card was canceled as well given the threat of significant rain overnight in western Michigan.
The Michigan fair harness racing circuit moves to the Midland County Fair, in Midland, Mich., for racing on Friday (Aug. 9) at 6 p.m. and Saturday (Aug. 10) at 2 p.m.
