Red Shores will host divisions of the Lady Slipper Stakes this Thursday (Aug. 30) at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The CDP’s 13-dash program, which will get underway at 6:30 p.m., will feature Lady Slipper trotting divisions for two and three-year-olds.
The first split will take to the track for Race 2 and a group of six juveniles will vie for a $7,500 purse. The field will be completely populated by progeny of Armbro Barrister. Now Look At Here has been established as the morning line choice for driver Brian MacPhee, trainer Ambyr Campbell and owner Ambrose Laybolt of Morell, P.E.I.
The other $7,5000 two-year-old division (Race 4) will feature Dusty Lane Titan, who has received the morning line favouritism. Dusty Lane Titan hails from the stable of trainer Marc Campbell, who also drives the son of Tad The Stud for owner Grayland Farm of Pugwash, N.S.
The sophomore trotting divisions will get underway in Race 6. West River Cindy will start from Post 4 in the $7,600 event. Trainer Clare MacDonald will be in the race bike behind West River Cindy for the first time this season for owner Haley Shepherd of Stratford, P.E.I. MacDonald’s husband, Ken MacDonald, has ably handled the reins of the daughter of Armbro Barrister to a ‘not-worse-than-second’ record thus far in 2018.
The final Lady Slipper three-year-old division has been carded as Race 8. Last year’s top two trotters are set to face off again this season. Triple Crown winner Windemeredontuworry has drawn Post 2, and Gilles Barrieau is scheduled to be in the bike for trainer and co-owner Terry Gallant and co-owner Eric Johnston, both of Summerside, P.E.I. Buckaroo, who holds the two-year-old track trotting record at Red Shores Charlottetown, will start from Post 3 this week for trainer-driver Campbell.
