The New York County Fair Finals are scheduled for Batavia Downs on Wednesday, with eight divisions set to go to the post for $10,000 apiece.
While many of the entrants don't have much pari-mutuel track experience, some arrive with some very intriguing and eye-popping records amassed on the county fair circuit throughout New York State this season.
Owner Margaret Butler of Cattaraugus, NY will bring in a classy threesome that has combined to win 26 of 31 races this season. Sanskrit (Crazed--Sand Cassin) is a perfect nine-for-nine in the first race for two-year-old colt trotters. In the fourth race, the two-year-old filly trot, Dreamsteeler (Cash Hall--Dream Street) will also head in with a perfect nine-for-nine mark. In the eighth race for three-year-old trotting fillies, Highway Cash (Cash Hall--Highwaytoheaven) has been either first or second in 11 starts in 2013, including seven victories. She has been in the money in 19 of her 20 lifetime starts.
There are some other horses worth noting who are coming into Wednesday night's card with some impressive credentials, including the speedy three-year-old gelded pacer Pull The Ripcord. He was victorious back on Friday night, as he scored in a very impressive 1:55.1. He'll once again have the services of Jim McNeight for trainer Joe Robbins Jr. in Race 2.
In the third race, for two-year-old filly pacers, Hurrikanekeelynora (If I Can Dream--Ive Lost You) has won five of six starts in her career and will have the driving services of William Bailey.
The two-year-old colt pacers will go in the seventh race with Way To Go Fabieo (Noble Ability--Theoneandonlyroni) leading the field of five for driver David Fisher. He has won 10-of-11 career starts and has banked $11,798 on the fair circuit.
The $3,000 (guar.) Pick-4 wager will begin in the third race and program pages for the wager are available free through the U.S. Trotting Association website. The pool went over the guaranteed mark last week and it's expected to be surpassed again.
Time-Warner Cable Channel 98 in Rochester and surrounding areas will broadcast the Wednesday program beginning at 6:30 p.m., ET.
