Woodmere Skyroller and Watch Me Dance have both been on top of their games thus far in their short careers. The two are scheduled to butt heads in stakes action Wednesday evening (July 10) at Red Shores’ Summerside Raceway as Governor’s Plate Week racing continues.

The Wednesday program has 10 dashes scheduled and the first race is set to head behind the starting gate at 6:30 p.m. Atlantic Sires Stakes two-year-old pacing fillies will be the feature attraction during the program, as the juvenile fillies will make their career debuts in stakes action.

Woodmere Skyroller has been favoured early for Race 8, which is an Atlantic Sires Stakes ‘A’ division that will carry a purse of $12,920. Woodmere Skyroller will start from Post 1 for driver Gilles Barrieau, trainer Kevin MacLean and owner Reg MacPherson of Stratford. The daughter of Rollwithitharry was second to an Ontario-bred rival in her first overnight outing and paced in 2:00.1. Woodmere Skyroller will have a rematch with the filly that beat in her in June qualifying action. Watch Me Dance prevailed over Woodmere Skyroller in the June qualifier with a 27.4 closing panel. Watch Me Dance, who is a daughter of Ameripan Gigolo, will start from Post 5 in the six-filly affair. Mark Bradley will be at Watch Me Dance’s lines for trainer and co-owner Stephen Quinn and co-owner John Quinn of Charlottetown. Woodmere Nasha is been selected as the third morning line choice and will have Kenny Arsenault driving from Post 2.

The other $12,920 ‘A’ division will line up for Race 6. Howmacrivercruiser has received top billing from Post 4 and is scheduled to have Barrieau in the bike for trainer Jackie Matheson and owner Howmac Farms of North Wiltshire. Other top entries include Tobins Choice (to be driven by Gary Chappell) and Ezra Express (Marc Campbell).

Race 4 will feature the lone $2,500 Atlantic Sires Stakes ‘B’ division for two-year-old pacing fillies and will house a field of five.

The Rocket Chief Harvey and Randy MacEachern Memorial Pace will face the gate for Race 7. Blacky Black, who has been deemed the top contender, is scheduled to start from Post 6 for owner Ralph Harvey of Durham Bridge, N.B., trainer Ed Harvey and driver Norris Rogers.
