Dresden Raceway will be honouring horseman Ted McFadden this Sunday.
McFadden, who passed away in March of 2017, was a third generation horseman who raced primarily in Southwestern Ontario including Dresden, Windsor, Sarnia and London.
The son of legendary horseman Levi “Jiggs” McFadden, Ted scored 172 wins in the sulky and banked over $207,000 and notched 27 training wins and chalked up over $214,000 in lifetime purses.
McFadden’s big smile and hearty laugh is truly missed around the backstretch at Dresden Raceway. He was always quick to offer help to those in need.
McFadden will be celebrated by his wife Karen, son Larry and his wife Terrie, daughter Dana Goodall and her husband Mike as well as grandchildren Gabe, Bailey, Derek, Brooke, Brady and great-grandson Bennett.
Dresden Raceway will also be recognizing caretakers duriing the Sunday program after the track's cancellation last Sunday during the National Caretaker Appreciation Day celebrations. Track announcer Gary Patterson will introduce each caretaker in front of the Grandstand, and the track will provide complimentary refreshments, conduct prize draws for many gifts including a mega-gift basket from Ontario Racing, t-shirts, hats, I Love Canadian Harness Racing Fan Club gear and more. There will also be a group photo of the caretakers.
Racing action starts at 1:30 p.m. Click here for Sunday’s entries.
