Woodbine Mohawk Park featured five qualifiers on Friday morning (July 26) including three groups of promising freshmen, and a trio of highly sought-after 2018 yearlings earned new records by the end of the session.

After making a miscue in her first appearance, Shes Kadabra Cool came on late to score in 2:04.4 in the first baby race of the morning. Driver Sylvain Filion sat patiently with Shes Kadabra Cool, allowing Zakarina (Randy Waples) to set the first pair of fractions. Zakarina then rolled offstride at the half, giving Shes Kadabra Cool the lead. Mybella Angel (Paul MacDonell) then made a move to the front from second around Shes Kadabra Cool, but faded late in the mile allowing Shes Kadabra Cool to stride by for the 2:04.4 score. Mybella Angel was more than two lengths back in second with Stonebridge Mimi closing for third.

Scott McEneny trains and co-owns Shes Kadabra Cool, a $70,000 Lexington Selected Yearling Sale purchase, along with Martwest Racing Stable of Mississauga, Ont. and breeder Harry Rutherford of Mount Pleasant, Ont.

Make It Come True sliced through horses late in the second qualifier to emerge victorious from a group of pacing colts. Driver Bob McClure had the freshman forwardly placed off the gate, leading into the backstretch before being fronted by Keystone Taz (Louis-Philippe Roy) just past the half. McClure enjoyed a pocket ride while Aces Rock (Jonathan Drury) applied first-over pressure around the far turn and into the stretch, with that front duo tightly bunched until mistretch. When McClure found a seam for Make It Come True, he responded and paced away from his rivals to trip the timer in 2:01.3 a length to the good.

Dr. Fred Kruszelnicki of Brooks, Alta. bred Make It Come True (Captaintreacherous - Dream Of Treasure), who fetched a price of $87,000 at Lexington, bought the horse back and entrusted Brad Maxwell to condition the colt.

I Got The Looks attracted a fair share of attention at the 2018 London Selected Yearling Sale, fetching a bid of $69,000, and the rookie trotting colt certainly looked the part of a contender with a 2:02.1 wire-to-wire victory in the second trotting qualifier of the morning over Gretzky Seelster (Trevor Henry) and Royaltys Odyssey (Carl Jamieson).

Ben Baillargeon trains I Got The Looks (E L Titan - Pretty Crafty) for Shmuel Farhi of London, Ont.
