Roy To Drive At Clinton Sunday

As Clinton Raceway prepares for its second week of live (spectator-free) harness racing in the 2020 season, they will also welcome 2019 Driver of the Year, Louis-Philippe Roy back to the Huron County Oval.

Roy closed out the 2019 season in Clinton as part of the 39th Annual Charity Driver's Challenge Event. Roy started strong in the event, and went on to secure a second-place finish in the Royal Canadian Legion fundraiser.

The Quebec-born reinsman is a regular on the Woodbine circuit, but takes pleasure in visiting the rural Southwestern Ontario track.

"A long-time friend from Mont-Joli, Charles Gaudreault, brought his horses here so he asked me to go with him Sunday to race them in Clinton," stated Roy. "I really like the atmosphere of Sunday afternoon racing in Clinton, it kind of brings us back to where we began at Eastern Quebec fairs. I will also have the chance to race against another of my friends for the first time, Samuel Fillion, in the ninth race, so I’m looking forward to it!"

Returning after a record opening day handle of $72,500, Clinton Raceway kicks off wagering with the early guaranteed, $2,000 Pick Four in the first race of the day. First post time is 1:30 p.m. and program and wagering details can be found on clintonraceway.com.
