Warrawee Needy was the sale topper with a six-figure bid at the 2015 Meadowlands Spring Mixed Sale that took place on Sunday at Meadowlands Racetrack in New Jersey.
Warrawee Needy, selling as Hip #106, was purchased for $260,000 by one of his former owners and trainer Mark Ford. The six-year-old son of E Dees Cam-Great Memories is a 28-time winner with over $1.2 million in purse earnings. The world champion is one of the fastest horses in the sport with a record race mile of 1:46.4, taken in his 2013 William Haughton Memorial elimination at The Meadowlands. The stallion was also bred last year and has five foals on the ground.
Three-year-old pacer My Hero Ron, Hip #41, also sold for six-figures as Ron Burke, acting as agent, placed the winning bid of $130,000. The Well Said-Erma La Em gelding has compiled a career summary of 2-5-3 in 16 starts while earning $73,187. He took his 1:54.4 mark at The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono as a two-year-old in the Pennsylvania Stallion Series.
