Long List Of Stars Set To Qualify

A slew of high profile horses will be front and centre during Thursday morning qualifiers at the Meadowlands

Four-year-olds Mr Cantab and Seaside are among the starters in tomorrow’s fourth qualifier. Mr Cantab, who won four of his nine starts last season, was a 1:57.4 qualifying winner last week at the Meadowlands. Seaside, who captured the Kentucky Filly Futurity in straight heats last season, will qualify for the second week-in-a-row. She was a 1:57.1 winner in a prep on April 8.

Senor Glide, who went 3-for-12 in last year’s rookie season, makes his first appearance of 2010 in Thursday’s fifth qualifier. The son of Yankee Glide set a track record at Mohawk last fall when he won his $112,666 division of the Champlain Stakes in 1:55.2 for trainer Jimmy Takter.

Buck I St Pat, Corleone Kosmos and Lavec Dream are among the starters to face the starting gate in the sixth qualifier. Buck I St Pat will be making her second prep of the season as she gets ready to try and add to her $1.4 million in career earnings. Corleone Kosmos, who was a 1:57.2 winner during last week’s qualifiers, will prep again as he gets ready to try and bolster his $1.9 million bankroll. Lavec Dream, who surpassed $1 million in career earnings late last season, will make her first appearance of the year for trainer Peter Kleinhans.

Canada’s Two-Year-Old Filly Pacer of the Year in 2009, Fancy Filly, will make her 2010 debut in qualifier 10 for trainer George Teague, Jr. The daughter of Western Hanover capped off a brilliant rookie season with a 1:53.4 score in the $628,178 final of the Breeders Crown at Woodbine Racetrack. She racked up a 10-1-1 record from 12 assignments last year while banking in excess of $840,000 in the process.

Rock N Roll Heaven, who is listed at 8-1 inTrot Magazine's Pepsi North America Cup Spring Book, makes his second appearance of the season for trainer Bruce Saunders. The son of Rocknroll Hanover, who was a 1:54.4 qualifying winner last week, put together a 4-4-1 record from nine assignments last year. He banked in excess of $614,000 along the way. He’ll line up in qualifier 12.

Im Gorgeous, who is listed at 35-1 inTrot Magazine's Pepsi North America Cup Spring Book, makes his 2010 debut in qualifier 13 for trainer George Teague, Jr. The son of Bettors Delight won four of his eight starts last year and took a flashy record of 1:50.4 winning his $20,000 elimination of the Woodrow Wilson.

Won The West and Keep It Real will clash in qualifier 14. Won The West, who wrapped up his 2009 campaign with a 1:48.2 win in the $200,000 American National at Balmoral Park. The O’Brien Award-winning son of Western Hanover rallied for a 1:53 win in last week’s first qualifier of the season. Keep It Real, the third-place finisher in last year’s $1.5 million Pepsi North America Cup, will make his second qualifier for new connections since being sold privately earlier this year. Lou Pena will send the $381,000 winner postward.

O’Brien Award finalist Shark Gesture will make his second appearance of the season in qualifier 15. The Larry Remmen-trained seven-year-old son of Cams Card Shark was second, race timed in 1:53, in last week’s prep. The career winner in excess of $1.9 million banked more than $963,000 last season thanks in part to wins in major events like the $210,000 final of the Graduate Series, the $688,000 final of the Wm. R. Haughton Memorial and the $685,000 final of the Canadian Pacing Derby.

Post time for Thursday’s qualifiers is 10 a.m.
