The Graydon Ballroom at the Delta Meadowvale roared with applause on January 26 when the much-deserving Marc Campbell was awarded the O’Brien Award of Horsemanship.
It was a special night for Campbell, along with his friends and family who were able to join him in Ontario, and now Standardbred Canada's 'I Love Canadian Harness Racing' Fan Club wants to continue the celebration with racing fans, friends and family at Campbell’s home track!
On Saturday, April 20, the Fan Club and Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at Charlottetown Driving Park will host a Fan Club meet and greet event at Red Shores from 5:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Campbell will be on hand with his cherished O’Brien trophy to autograph photos and be available for photos.

Campbell, 28, of Winsloe, Prince Edward Island, has proven himself to be one of the top horsemen in the Canadian Maritimes, and the O’Brien Award upon his shelf confirms it. The 2012 racing season was a career year for Campbell in terms of earnings. He was the leading driver at Red Shores, breaking his own single-season record of most wins, and he also captured the E.F. Acorn Memorial Driver’s Championship.
Last Saturday night, Campbell added to his trophy collection at the PEISHOA banquet. He was awarded trophies as the leading dash winner and leading percentage driver. He was also recognized by the PEISHOA with a special tribute to acknowledge his O’Brien Award for Horsemanship.
Malabrigo, trained and driven by Campbell, was honoured as the Three-Year-Old Pacing Filly of the Year and Pacer of the Year. Owned by Buntainwood Farms, which was recognized as Standardbred Canada’s Owner of the Year, the filly was undefeated in 2012 and earned over $82,000 during her sophomore campaign.
