Trot Insider has learned that Carmella Mildred Luchento of Freehold, New Jersey passed away at her home surrounded by love on Saturday, March 5, 2011. She was 82
.
For many years, Mrs. Luchento was involved in the racing stable previously operated by her son, Thomas, who is the current president of the Standardbred Breeders & Owners Association of New Jersey.
Friends and family are invited to visit on Thursday, March 10, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home on Route 9 North in Manalapan.
A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Friday, March 11, 2011 at 10 a.m., at St. Robert Bellarmine Church in Freehold. Entombment will follow at Maplewood Mausoleum in Freehold.
Born in Jersey City, she married her beloved husband Natale on April 7, 1945, living in Jersey City until moving to Old Bridge in 1956. For more than 18 years she was a chef and kitchen matriarch in Luchento’s Italian Restaurant in Millstone. She was a communicant of St. Robert Bellarmine Roman Catholic Church in Freehold.
Carmella will always be remembered as a woman who dedicated her life to her family. She had a deep passion for cooking and loved to prepare large meals for family gatherings. She enjoyed going to Atlantic City and the racetrack in her spare time. She had a spunkiness and zest for life that all her knew her will remember.
She is survived by her beloved and devoted husband of 66 years, Natale; her three sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas and Carol, George and Alice and Michael and Cheryl; her six grandchildren, Thomas, Gary, Janet, Kristen, Michael and Amanda; her four great-granddaughters, Victoria, Julia, Allison and Valentina and her sisters, Amelia Morga and Angelina Mastrogiovanni.
She joins in eternal rest her brother, Peter Baratta, and her great-grandson, Nicholas Anthony Luchento.
