PEIHRIA To Conduct Open Meeting

The Prince Edward Island Harness Racing Industry Association is moving forward with several initiatives as a result of a recently completed comprehensive study “Working Together - Capitalizing on Opportunities for Growth”

. MRSB Services Inc. conducted the study and has recommended moving forward by the establishment of eight committees.

Consequently the PEIHRIA has called for an open meeting at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, 30 March, 2011 at the Farm Centre in Charlottetown. All interested parties are requested to attend both horsepeople and members of the public who might have expertise that they might contribute to the effort.

Executive Director, Wayne Pike, notes that the MRSB Study is extremely positive showing much progress for the industry over the past ten years. But more importantly, the industry on PEI is poised to capitalize on numerous opportunities. These have been identified and are being scoped out for implementation.

Wednesday’s meeting is intended to springboard four committees: Marketing, Exporting Signal, Developing Partnerships and Breeding. The other four will commence in the Fall.

Gee Whiz guys I know you don't want to hear this - but this was the first notification to horsemen of the meeting and it came on the 30th in the AM, with the event scheduled for that evening. And there was no public notification on PEI prior to the this, yet you indicate you want the public to attend.

I read your MSRB report and like the recent HANA survey, it recommended among other things that you should start paying attention to your customers.

This incident is an excellent example of just what is wrong with this industry.

With racino money rolling in, none of the industry's leaders give a damn about the client
