Officials with Miami Valley Raceway have issued a reminder to owners and trainers that the track’s nine ‘Legends’ late-closing series for green horses are rapidly approaching, as well as a series for conditioned trotters.
The Herb Coven Jr. Memorial Series – for pacing mares that are non-winners of four pari-mutuel races or $30,000 lifetime – has a nomination deadline of March 1; as does the tandem George Williams Memorial series for male pacers who meet the same criteria. Both series have a pair of $10,000 preliminary legs and culminate in a $20,000 (est.) final. First-leg action is scheduled for March 11 and 12, respectively.
The deadline for entries into a late-closing trotting series for non-winners of $1,200 per start in 2015-16 is March 4. The three-week event will also feature two $10,000 legs and a $20,000 (est.) championship and will begin on March 13.
Entry forms for these three series and seven others that will be raced in March and April at Miami Valley can be found at miamivalleygaming.com under the ‘Racing/Horsemen’s Info’ tabs, or can be picked up in person at the Miami Valley race office.
