Speedy stakes winner Love Me Some Lou has been retired and joins the Canadian stallion ranks for 2025.
Woodmere Standardbreds of Marshfield, P.E.I. announced that Love Me Some Lou p,2,1:50.4f ($318,336) has joined proven stallion Tobago Cays p, 1:50f as additions to the farm's 2025 stallion roster.
A son of Sweet Lou from the Four Starzzz Shark mare Shark Lightning, Love Me Some Lou took his mark of 1:50.4f at two, pacing 10 miles faster than 1:53. He was third in both his elimination and the final of the Breeders Crown.
Love Me Some Lou retired with 18 wins and more than $318,000 in earnings. He's a full brother to the 2023 Kindergarten Classic winner Lou Vuitton p,2,1:50.4 ($243,040).
The regally-bred Tobago Cays has already made an impact as a stallion. The son of U.S. Hall of Famers Rocknroll Hanover and Bunny Lake banked more than $818,000 on the racetrack and he's setting records early in his stud career. In 2024, from a crop of just 10 foals, Tobago Cays became the first Maritime stallion with two $100,000 earners in a single season — Merigo Magic and Jackies Boy.
To date, starters sired by Tobago Cays average just shy of $58,000 in earnings with nine sporting more than $100,000.
Both Love Me Some Lou and Tobago Cays stand for a stud fee of $1,800, along with returning stallions Twin B Tuffenuff and U S Captain.
Breeders have the option to combine Woodmere stallions to receive multiple foal discounts. All stallions are tested negative for EVA, and Woodmere offers free shipping to all Maritime Bus destinations.
