On Tuesday, February 16, the Ontario Racing Commission released a notice of decision stating that the remaining funds in the Sudbury Downs purse account are to be forwarded to the ORC in trust, as well as payment of outstanding regulatory fees, wagering levies and program charges.
The ORC notice – the contents of which appear below in its entirety – states that as of December 31, 2015, the remaining amount in the purse account was $2,111,707.42.
The notice states that the amount must be made payable on an immediate basis to ORC in Trust for the Standardbred Horsepeople.
SUDBURY DOWNS ISSUED NOTICE OF DECISION RE: PURSE ACCOUNT AND OUTSTANDING FEES
On February 11, 2016 the Ontario Racing Commission (ORC) issued a Notice of Decision to MacRanald Enterprises Incorporated, the owner of Sudbury Downs. The Decision orders that the remaining funds in the Sudbury Downs Purse Account be forwarded to the ORC in Trust, as well as payment of outstanding regulatory fees, wagering levies and program charges.
As at December 31, 2015, the remaining amount in the Purse Account is $2,111,707.42.This amount must be made payable on an immediate basis to ORC in Trust for the Standardbred Horsepeople.
On June 24, 2014, the ORC received a letter from Sudbury Downs requesting cancellation of its license. Pursuant to a Notice of Decision dated June 30, 2014 the license was cancelled but extended solely for the purpose of complying with outstanding orders including the payment of outstanding fees and charges and a requirement to forward the remaining funds in the Sudbury Downs Purse Account.
Please note any aggrieved party has the right to appeal this decision to the Commission, such appeal to be commenced within 15 days from the date of this Decision.
