Standardbred Canada is excited to announce the host tracks and dates for the 2026 National Driving Championship (NDC) and Regional Driving Championships (RDC).
Clinton Raceway will host the 2026 National Driving Championship on Sunday, July 26, 2026.
"We are incredibly proud that Clinton Raceway has been selected to host the National Driving Championship while also celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame and the 25th Anniversary of our signature biennial event, Legends Day," said Jessica Carnochan, Marketing Manager at Clinton Raceway. "To bring together Canada’s top driving talent, honour five decades of Hall of Fame excellence, and mark a quarter-century of Legends Day in one extraordinary celebration is truly special for our track and our community.
"Legends Day has always been about more than racing — it’s about tradition, giving back, and welcoming generations of fans to share in the thrill of the homestretch," said Carnochan. "Combining it with the National Driving Championship and the Hall of Fame’s milestone anniversary creates a once-in-a-generation moment that pays tribute to the pioneers who shaped our sport while showcasing the talent and sportsmanship driving it forward today."
The 2026 National Driving Championship will determine one of Canada’s representatives at the next World Driving Championship (WDC), which Canada is hosting in 2027. James MacDonald was the winner of the 2025 WDC. With approval of the International Trotting Association, he would receive an automatic bye into the 2027 event.

We look forward to crowning a Canadian champion who will represent Canada at the 2027 World Driving Championship alongside reigning champion James MacDonald right here in Canada."
Drivers must earn their way into the National Driving Championship by finishing first or second in their respective Regional Driving Championship.
There are four regional events, which will feature fields of eight or nine drivers who will compete in a series of races and earn points based on their finishing position.

- Tuesday, May 5 - Ontario Regional Driving Championship - The Raceway at Western Fair District, London, Ont.
- Saturday, May 23 - Western Regional Driving Championship - Century Downs, Calgary, Alta.
- Sunday, June 14 - Quebec / Eastern Ontario Regional Driving Championship - Hippodrome 3R, Trois-Rivières, Que.
- Tuesday, June 23 - Atlantic Regional Driving Championship - Red Shores Summerside, Summerside, P.E.I.
2026 National Driving Championship
- Sunday, July 26 - Clinton Raceway, Clinton, Ont.
Past winners of the NDC include James MacDonald (2024), Doug McNair (2022, 2018), Brandon Campbell (2016), Jody Jamieson (2014, 2011), Brad Forward (2009) and Gilles Barrieau (2007). The National Driving Championship was not held in 2020 due to COVID-19.

Clinton Raceway accueillera le Championnat national des conducteurs 2026 le dimanche 26 juillet 2026.

Le Championnat national des conducteurs 2026 déterminera l’un des représentants du Canada au prochain Championnat mondial des conducteurs (WDC), que le Canada accueillera en 2027. Avec l’approbation de l’Association Internationale du Trot, James MacDonald, gagnant du WDC 2025, recevra un laissez-passer automatique pour l’édition de 2027.

Les conducteurs doivent se qualifier pour le Championnat national des conducteurs en terminant premier ou deuxième lors de leur Championnat régional respectif — quatre épreuves régionales sont prévues.
Les événements régionaux mettront en vedette huit ou neuf conducteurs qui s’affronteront dans une série de courses et accumuleront des points selon leur position à l’arrivée.
