My condolences to the family and friends of a man who befriended this neighbourhood kid and introduced him to a love for horses and racing. My brother and I would go to the fairgrounds Saturday nights and watch the races with Paul, who worked there hanging photos, and watch Gerald and the Hies and loads of other great people who were my intro to racing. Sunday mornings we would go back to Morrow Park and pick up tickets off the ground take them home and check every one looking for winning tickets the punters had thrown away with occasional success.
Later when I was in grade 7 or 8 I worked for him after school rolling bandages and mucking stalls... eventually being taught how to be a groom for his stable. Lots of fun and lots of work. I owe a great deal to Gerald, who always treated well - without him I would probably never been involved in any capacity in racing.

RIP Gerald you will be missed.

Worked for Gerry for a few years at Morrow Park and he was a very organized and good person who always enjoyed working around his stable with top care of his horses. Many memories around Morrow working for Gerry. Billy Gratton B was one of Gerry's horses that he owned and raced for years.

Very sorry to hear of Gerald passing. I enjoyed our conversations at Kawartha Downs about racing. Our condolences to the Lowery family.

Another one Gerald developed was the great race mare Kawartha An Worthy.

Joyce, Ray and the rest of the Lowery family we are so sorry to hear of Geralds passing. Complete horseman and class act all the way. Always enjoyed driving for Gerald over the years. Horses and harness were always impeccable. What an amazing life. R.I.P Mr. Lowery!
