After demolishing his foes his last time on P.E.I., Woodmere Ideal Art will look for more of the same in the Sunday afternoon feature at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The 13-dash Sunday card has a 12:30 P.M. first-race post time.
Jason Hughes will drive Woodmere Ideal Art from post four in the Sunday finale, featuring a $2,900 purse. The son of Articulator is the morning line favourite in the Preferred Pace for trainer Sifroi Melanson and owner Ultimate Stable of Greater Lakeburn, N.B. His last start was a three-length victory in the Preferred at Red Shores Charlottetown on Oct. 26.
Well Did draws post five in the field for trainer-driver Paul Langille. He comes into Sunday’s contest off a pair of victories in the top class at Truro Raceway. Nogreatmischief has rail control for trainer-driver Walter Cheverie after having not seen the pylons behind the starting gate since early August.
Race analyst Les MacIsaac will side with Woodmere Ideal Art as his top pick.
“Woodmere Ideal Art has been a top three finisher in 75 per cent of his starts the past two years, 2018 on the tough stakes circuit and this year against the best free-for-allers on the east coast,” MacIsaac said. “It will take a big effort from one of his rivals to knock him off.”
Rounding out the Preferred field are Mick Dundee (Don MacNeill), Varadero Hanover (Ken Murphy), Rockin Indy (David Dowling), Burn Out Hanover (Gilles Barrieau) and JJ Powerball (Adam Merner).
The $1,700 Lester Chappell Memorial Pace is carded as the second race of the program. Heart And Soul is the top selection from post two for trainer-driver Cheverie and owner Riley Farms Ltd., of Summerside. The champion son of Western Paradise has visited the winner’s circle only once this season with a 1:59.2 win over Red Shores Summerside. Other top selections in the race are Oh To Be Me (Gary Chappell) and Complete Player (Mark Bradley).
