Go and Play Stables (GPS) has teamed up with local drivers for its first Dinner and Driver’s Night Fundraiser at Woodbine Racetrack on Saturday, November 16.

Current drivers include Scott Zeron, Doug McNair, Billy Davis Jr., James MacDonald and Anthony MacDonald. They are graciously donating a portion of their purse earnings to GPS’ standardbred retraining and adoption program. Zeron emphasized to GPS, “This business has given me so much, any opportunity I have I try to give back.”

Go and Play Stables would like to welcome any other drivers and trainers that wish to support GPS on this night to please contact [email protected] to sign up for this great cause.

The evening’s live racing action can be enjoyed from the comfort of Favourites Dining Room where a buffet dinner will be held beginning at 6:25 p.m. Tickets can be purchased for the price of $55. Door prizes, raffles and a silent auction table will also be available.

Go and Play’s very own Hezgothorseshoes ‘Mojo,’ a nine-year-old son of Mr Lavec out of the Royal Strength mare Orchard Baby, with Meagan Moeyaert in the saddle, will be leading out the post parade for the GPS-sponsored race. Meagan and Mojo were presented with awards in English Equitation and Rookie Horse of the Year this past Sunday, October 27 at the Ontario Standardbred Show Series Banquet.

With the current state of the racing industry, standardbreds are finding themselves in need of new careers. Go and Play Stables’ standardbred rescue, rehabilitation, retraining and re-homing program provides them with that opportunity. GPS is run solely by a group of dedicated volunteers who strive to promote the versatility of the standardbred and base their training on the philosophy that ‘patience and persistence pays off.”

Go and Play Stables would like to take this opportunity to thank its ‘Driver’s Night’ participants for their support.

Organizers have informed Trot Insider that Brooks Feeds - Port Perry has joined on to co-sponsor the event.

Tickets for the dinner can be purchased by contacting Sarah Merriam Waldram ([email protected] or 705-761-0419) or Corinne Kack ([email protected]).
