Last Call For Equine Guelph’s Sickness Prevention Course

Time is running out to register for Equine Guelph’s online short course on “Sickness Prevention in Horses” that runs from October 18-29.

This is one of the short courses on Equine Guelph’s Horse Portal featuring practical, flexible learning, and available this fall to Standardbred Canada’s members with a 15 per cent partner discounted rate.

Susan Raymond is the instructor for this course. Since 2003, Raymond has been involved in the development and delivery, both online and in-person, of educational and skills training programs for Equine Guelph. The focus of these programs is to improve welfare and safety of both animals and people on the farm during day-to-day activities and emergency situations.

For those who have never taken an online course before, no prior online learning experience is required, and the course format is flexible with “24/7” access available.

In this course you will learn to:

• Identify the risks associated with infectious disease
• Discuss the importance of biosecurity and infection control in the horse industry
• Identify the role you may play in disease spread
• Describe and implement best management practices for preventing and controlling disease spread
