The 47th season of live on-track action at Pompano Park will commence at 7:05 p.m. (EST) on Saturday, October 16. Fans of South Florida harness racing will be greeted with major enhancements at the track or when viewing the
off-track simulcast TV signal.
"The main floor of the grandstand has been brightened up and refurbished and the improvements for our patrons extend far beyond the trackside viewing area," said Josh LeDuff, senior director of marketing at the track. "In the simulcasting section of our casino we're completing a major upgrade with the installation of individual TV monitors and plush new seating. A complete upgrade to the track surface has also been completed. All told, we've invested about $350,000 to enhance our facilities specifically for the racing customers and horsepeople" he said.
Viewers of the Pompano signal on TV across the continent will also note some major upgrades.
"In addition to a much more appealing graphics package, we conducted an extensive search during the off-season for a trackside and roving reporter," explained John Yinger, the track's director of racing operations. "We'll be introducing Jaynie Hernandez to our on-track and simulcasting viewers on Saturday night. We're really excited about the prospect of her segments bringing a fresh perspective to our new and existing customers alike.
"With respect to the on-track product, we had an overwhelming number of stall applications and we have our backstretch facilities full with horses. We have attracted a great cross-section of trainers and drivers from all over the continent for our 2010-2011 meet."
First-race post time is 7:05 p.m. each Saturday, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. A fifth live program each week will be added in early December.

On the October 16 opening program, on-track fans will receive a free seat cushion gift and third round action in the Florida Standardbred Breeders and Owners Association Sunshine State Stakes (FSBOA) will be prominent on the 11-race card.
