World Champion and 2016 Dan Patch award winner Huntsville sustained an injury while training for the Tattersalls Pace and has been retired.
Huntsville was voted U.S. two-year old pacer of the year in 2016 and paced to a world record mile of 1:49 at the Red Mile, winning the International Stallion Stake. His two-year-old campaign also included a track record-setting performance at the Meadowlands, winning the Breeders Crown in 1:49.1, as well as wins in the Bluegrass and the Pennsylvania Sire Stakes Championship
Huntsville retires as the fastest three-year-old of 2017, with a mark of 1:47.4 that he earned winning the Meadowlands Pace. He bankrolled $1,014,428 this year at three, boasting victories in the Cane Pace and Jenna’s Beach Boy, while finishing second in the North America Cup. In 25 lifetime starts he had 15 wins and eight seconds, finishing off the board only one time in his career.
Huntsville will be syndicated and stand stud at Cameo Hills Farm in Montgomery, New York. His fee for the 2018 breeding season will be $ 6,000.00, payable upon live foal.

I agree with everything that you wrote, John. It's sad to see top 3 year olds have their careers cut short due to injuries - it makes you wonder how much they could have achieved had they not got hurt. The sport NEEDS a charismatic horse like WIJI.

Some fans complain when a horse gets retired (too soon for their liking) or complain when a horse is not retired soon enough.
Horse racing is a tough sport and injuries do occur.
Hopefully WIJI will return to have a long career much like Foiled Again.
We need him back. The older ranks are really thin as the top 10 in USTA/Hambletonian rankings does not include an older pacing mare or horse.
