Another Fraser Purse Increase Announced

Harness Racing BC CEO Doug McCallum has announced an additional purse increase for Fraser Downs

effective immediately.

“With the new government allocations and condensed season, we are able to make substantial increases in our stakes program and overnight purses,” McCallum said. “Overnight purses will now have a blended 30 per cent increase for the balance of the 2011 standardbred season.”

McCallum’s announcement came on the heels of an initial purse increase of $500 across the board, confirmed on December 21, 2010 by GCGC Regional General Manager, Racing, Raj Mutti.

Fraser Downs saw a positive response from customers to the two $10,000 guaranteed Win 4 promotions, sponsored by the BCLC on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. The racetrack plans similar promotions to be offered in the future

I agree with Wayne. If the money is there, I would like to hear one GOOD reason why GCGC won't extend the meet.

It doesnt solve the problem of no live standardbred racing for six months! Raise the purses all you want, it wont keep horses around till October.
