The Meadowlands has added several important new stakes to its existing menu for 2015 with the nomination payment due by February 17 on the whole slate.
(February 15 falls on a Sunday, so postmarked by the 17th is acceptable).
Leading the parade of new races is the return of the $1,000,000 (estimated) Graduate Series, resurrected to provide an opportunity for four-year-old trotters and pacers to compete against horses of their own age before taking on older horses. The series opens at Tioga Downs on Monday, May 25 then moves to The Meadowlands for legs two and three in June with the $250,000 (guaranteed) finals at The Meadowlands on July 3 (Pace) and July 11 (Trot).
Mare divisions have been added to the TVG FFA Championships for 2015 with each purse (Trot & Pace) set at a guaranteed $200,000. The trotting mares also pick up another big purse opportunity with the Fresh Yankee set to go on Hambletonian Day for $175,000 (estimated).
The fall meet will see the addition of a pair of new races for three-year-old fillies with the purse for each estimated at $175,000. These stakes have been named for a couple of the greatest mares in Meadowlands history, Continentalvictory and Tarport Hap.
A new web page has been added to The Meadowlands site with all pertinent stakes information and nomination forms available. Questions may be directed to the race office at 201-460-4214.
Stakes payments to these stakes can also be made through SC Stakes Online. Click here for more info on how to get started.
