The 37th O’Brien Awards will be livestreamed from the J-AAR Expo Centre at Western Fair District in London, Ont., on standardbredcanada.ca on Saturday, Jan. 31, starting at 9 p.m. (EST).
This year’s online broadcast, made possible by Standardbred Canada, is proudly sponsored by Omega Alpha Pharmaceuticals ~ Effective Supplements Through Science. The O’Brien Awards Gala will be co-hosted by Greg Blanchard and Mark McKelvie.
Seventeen O’Brien Awards will be presented to the winners in 12 divisional horse categories and five people categories. Leading owners at racetracks from across the country will be recognized and awards will also be presented in three Media Excellence Award categories and the Outstanding Groom Award category. Marvin Katz will be presented with the prestigious Cam Fella Award.
The culmination of the evening will be the announcement of the Somebeachsomewhere Horse of the Year, and Omega Alpha will recognize the winner with a prize package valued at $800.
The evening kicks off with live coverage on the Red Carpet Show, hosted by Natasha Day and John Rallis, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. (EST) on standardbredcanada.ca and on Standardbred Canada’s Facebook page. The broadcast will feature interviews with finalists and special guests arriving on the Red Carpet.
Standardbred Canada will also provide real-time updates on the event through its social media channels. The link to the live stream will be posted on Saturday night in the Live O'Brien Awards Coverage note on the Standardbred Canada website.
