Terry was the conduit between horsemen, who knew the game, and 'political' appointees, who didn't. He was one of the last of a dying breed.

Terry was the only ORC Director we had the pleasure of meeting. Condolences to his family and friends.

Our condolences to Terry's family. Terry was a big man with a big smile. He will be sadly missed by all he met. RIP Terry. Ron and Betty Hill and family

This industry keeps losing cornerstone people that have common sense and a feel for both the individual and the game. Terry was one of those people. Approachable, knowledgeable and compassionate... Terry was all that. I just hope that our new and veteran regulators might follow his example.

Brent & Family,

Please accept our sincere condolences on the loss of Terry. My wife and I both had the pleasure of working very closely with him. Myself as the Surface Manager of RCR some 10_ years ago and, my wife as a licensing agent for the ORC in the late 80's and into the 90's. With Terry, common sense prevailed. His position didn't afford him the luxury of winning any popularity contests but he managed to do so anyway.

Sincerely,
Howard & Lynda Portelance

Terry was always an "all star" whose judgement and common sense added immeasurably to the profile and benefit of racing. There are not a lot of senior regulators in any industry that will sit down, chat and listen to folks in the business over coffee and a hot dog on the backstretch.
Terry was always a gentleman and willing to consider all sides of any issue. His "kind" are few and far between. He will be greatly missed.

Knew Terry throughout his ORC tenure, very professional with a good mixture of common sense and the right personality to make it all work. My condolences to the family. Rest easy old friend.

Very sad news. Terry had a job where he had to be tough, but he was always fair and was still one of the nicest guys you could ever meet. I always looked forward to meeting up with him at Pompano Park when he made his yearly treks to Florida after he retired. My condolences to Brent (a real chip off the old block ) and the rest of the family.

Brent and family please accept our deepest sympathy on the loss of a wonderful man. Terry will be missed by all that knew him. R.I.P. our friend.
