Bart Glass Passes, Arrangements Set

Published: January 17, 2012 01:45 pm EST

Bart Glass, a respected livestock expert and consultant to many standardbred breeders and both the Kentucky Standardbred and Lexington Selected Sales companies, has passed away in his hometown of Danville, Ky.

He had been hospitalized in Louisville before being released, but then had to be readmitted to a hospital in Danville, where he passed.

Glass, 76, began working as a consultant to inspect yearlings for the Kentucky Standardbred Sales Company in 1981, just the second year of the sale. He handled the same role for the Lexington Selected Sales Company when the Kentucky Standardbred and Tattersalls fall yearling sales in Lexington were merged.

Both a viewing and funeral will take place on Saturday, January 21 starting at 11:00 a.m. at the Stith Funeral Home (859-236-2113), located at 318 West Broadway in Danville.

Please direct flowers or donations to the Christian Harness Horseman’s Association.

Please join SC in offering condolences to the family and friends of Bart Glass.

Mr.Glass will be sorely missed. He was a good man,a gentleman, and a straight shooter. I am sorry for his family's loss. RIP. Roger Kopas.

Certailnly a sad day for all of us on the breeding farms. Bart was always gracious, pleasant and complimentary when he visited and really understood the hard work involved in raising young horses to become winners on the track. I was priviledged to know and learn from him for many many years. RIP Bart, see you someday on the other side.

A great friend and mentor I first met Bart at the old Liberty Bell sales in 1977 when I was with Armstrong Bros. He purchased Arm. Vanguard for Lauxmont Farms and then a couple years later he bought Arm. Aussie for Lauxmont after that I could see why clients hired Bart to buy yearling for them. Bart was hired by the Kentucky Standardbred sales company and we became good friends with Bart and Jane. Bart may you rest in peace and our condolence to you Jane and your family. Larry and Jackie
