Ten qualifying rounds of the Winter Wednesdays Handicapping Tournament kick-off on January 16 at Grand River Raceway and its OTB site, The Bettor Club, in Kitchener, Ont.
The tournament offers cash prizes totaling $6,250. It’s free to play and runs every Wednesday from January 16 through March 20.
Contestants in each qualifying leg must select the winners of races two through seven at the simulcast track of their choice. A hypothetical $2 win and place wager is applied to each selection and the top finishers share $200 in weekly prizes.
The top 10 finishers from each qualifying round advance to the finals on March 27, where the winner will take home the $3,000 lion’s share of the $4,000 pot.
New features to the annual event include a $25 random cash draw each contest night at 9:00 p.m. Players in leg one (January 16) will receive their choice of a 2013 Heart Of Harness Racing calendar or a Trot 4 Kids calendar (while supplies last).
