Thirty-two drivers began a quest last spring to see who would be named Canada’s National Driving Champion for 2022, and win the right to represent the red-and-white in the World Championships in Europe next year. ‘Saving Sammy’ was Jayson Baxter’s heart-warming documentary series on CTV Atlantic that won the O’Brien Media Excellence Award for Best Video Production in 2021. Now however, Samspace, the star of the documentary, is the one helping to save others, as one of the stars of the Equine-Assisted Learning program at Family Acres Ranch in Nova Scotia. There, Sammy works with individuals who suffer from PTSD, troubled youths and others, and maybe due in-part to what he’s been through, the former racehorse has proven to be a natural when it comes to helping others.
