PA Payments Due May 15

Published: May 8, 2013 12:34 pm EDT

Horsemen with prospects for the Pennsylvania Sire Stakes and its related programs should be aware that a payment for many classes must be postmarked to the commission by Wednesday, May 15.

THREE-YEAR-OLDS

No further pari-mutuel payments for three-year-olds are required, but those wishing to maintain eligibility for the Pennsylvania Fair Sire Stakes circuit have a $100 payment due on May 15.

TWO-YEAR-OLDS

May 15 payments for freshmen are $400 for pari-mutuel (which includes the Stallion Series) and $50 for the fairs. If you do not think your horse will be ready for any stakes competition at two, you do not have to make this May 15 payment; your eligibility will be carried over to March 15, 2014, though of course you forfeit the chance to race in any of the Pennsylvania series (no supplemental payments here).

YEARLINGS

Pennsylvania has yearling payments, and all Pennsylvania-sired yearlings must be nominated as a yearling with a May 15 payment in order to remain eligible. The payments are $50 for the pari-mutuel circuit, and $5 for the fairs.

Forms are available online at agriculture.state.pa.us. They can also be obtained by emailing [email protected], faxing a request to 717-787-2271 or calling 717-787-5539.

The 2013 Pennsylvania Sire Stakes season starts next Wednesday, May 15, with Stallion Series events at The Meadows (3TF) and Philadelphia (3PF). Their respective complementary Sire Stakes are the 17th for the 3TF (there were some early drafts circulated with a different date, but the 17th is the 3TF SS day) and the 16th for the 3PF. As always, condition sheets and local racing offices should be utilized for learning the date and time of the draw of these races.
