Ross Galbraith, Chairman of the New Brunswick Horse Racing Industry Association and a Director of Standardbred Canada, is recovering in hospital following an accident on Saturday night at Exhibition Park Raceway in Saint John.
Galbraith, who was driving Porthill Digger in the fifth race of the September 13 racing card, was thrown from the race bike after the wire when the five-year-old gelding, owned by Galbraith, fell to the track.
While he remains in hospital, Galbraith's wife Krista reports that he has been released from the Intensive Care Unit and hopes to be out of hospital by Friday. Galbraith suffered a mild concussion and a shoulder injury in the accident.
Just days before the racing accident, Galbraith was involved in the very productive meetings between the New Brunswick harness racing industry and government officials, being described as "the largest single impact for the New Brunswick industry in more than 100 years."
Standardbred Canada wishes Ross a speedy recovery and will continue to update Galbraith's condition in the days ahead.
