According to a report, Standardbred Breeders and Owners Association of New Jersey President Tom Luchento is expected to unveil a proposal to save racing at the Meadowlands tomorrow
at the second session of the state's Summit on Gaming.
An article by The Wall Street Journal states that Luchento and his partners are expected to break down their proposal, which reportedly includes the implementation of slot machines, new forms of wagering, and a new model for standardbred racing based on this year's successful experiment at Monmouth.
The Monmouth experiment included fewer race dates and higher purses. The Wall Street Journal article also suggests that the number of race dates at the Meadowlands going forward under the proposal could be around 100.
The report also states that 'the standardbred industry also contributed several million towards Monmouth's experiment.'
