Northville Downs opens its doors for the 2022 fall meet this weekend, with $488,248 in purses are on the line for horsepeople competing at the metro Detroit half-mile oval on opening night (Friday) and another $500,400 in purses up for grabs on Saturday.
Friday features the return of Dollar Night which includes $1 live race programs, $1 pop, $1 popcorn and $2 hot dogs. On the race schedule for Friday, there are two non-wagering races starting at 5:30 p.m., plus 12 pari-mutuel regular card events starting at 7:30 p.m.
The non-wagering races consist of the $111,918 two-year-old filly pace Michigan Sire Stakes final and the $110,118 two-year-old colt pace Michigan Sire Stakes final. The regular card features the $92,094 two-year-old filly trot Michigan Sire Stakes final, the $113,918 two-year-old colt trot Michigan Sire Stakes final, as well as the $10,800 Open Trot.
Saturday’s card features four Michigan Sire Stakes finals, which are non-wagering and begin at 5:30 p.m., then the regular Saturday night wagering action begins at 7:30 p.m. with 11 races on tap, all full nine-horse fields, including the featured $10,800 Open for eight male pacers and one distaffer. The Sire Stakes finals being contested on Saturday include the $108,325 three-year-old trot for colts, the $106,325 pace for three-year-old fillies, the $111,925 trot for three-year-old fillies and the $107,925 pace for three-year-old colts.
In addition to racing returning to the Northville,
Northville Downs will race each Friday and Saturday night with a scheduled post time of 7:30 p.m. each race night through Dec. 17, 2022.
