Prior to the start of the Labor Day afternoon racing program at Scioto Downs, there will be a brief ceremony to pay tribute to Ohio horseman Justin Hall
.
Hall was severely injured in a racing accident last Labor Day week at an Ohio fair. He lay in a medically-induced coma for two months as doctors grappled with treating his brain trauma. His family and central Ohio horsemen were very supportive during his hospitalization.
Hall came out of his coma in early November and spent a month at Dodd Hall Rehabilitative Center at Ohio State to improve his communications and motor skills. He was released last December, but still faced an extensive rehabilitation program.
While Hall has not driven in races since the accident, he was recently able to regain his license to drive a motor vehicle, a major step forward.
The tribute to Hall will begin with him jogging a horse around the track at Scioto and bringing it into the winner's circle, where he will be joined by horsemen, family, and friends.
Also on Monday at Scioto, top drivers, Chris Page, Dan Noble, J.D. Wengerd, and Chip Noble will autograph photos for fans.
Racing beings at 1 p.m. on Labor Day.
