Atlantic Sires Stakes action will heat up again this weekend at Northside Downs when the two-year-old pacing fillies roll into town.
The North Sydney, NS racetrack will play host to two 'A' divisions of the pacing fillies which will go for a purse pool of $8,240 each; and two 'B' divisions which will go for $2,500 a piece. These races will be the final regular season event of the year for these performers prior to the Atlantic Breeders Crown Championships.
This year’s Atlantic Breeders Crown Weekend of Champions will take place October 10 and 11 at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The top eight point earners in each Atlantic Sires Stakes pacing division are eligible to participate in the prestigious Championship Finals with each division going for $25,000 in purse money.
The next eight point earners in each division are eligible to participate in the pacing consolations, going for purses of $5,000 each. Meanwhile, the top eight point earners in each of the trotting divisions will go for purses of $7,500.
The Atlantic Breeders Crown Weekend of Champions will showcase the best two and three-year-old colts and fillies from the Maritimes. The event will also see a total of $135,000 in purse monies handed out to some of the best performers of the 2009 race season.
